Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has claimed that his popular song ‘On God’ was recorded in the presence of angels in his room. Known for his creativity and versatility, Shatta Wale released the track in 2022, which quickly became an anthem for many fans.

In an appearance on Rants, Bants, and Confessions with Efia Odo, the ‘Killa Ji Mi’ hitmaker shared the inspiration behind ‘On God.’ He mentioned that comparisons between him and Black Sherif by some industry figures motivated him to create the song.

“When Black Sherif came out, there were lots of comparisons, but I’m the type who can impact someone’s career with a single song. Hearing those things made me record ‘On God,’ and I was like, God, why are you letting them do this to me? Let’s make something,” he said.

“I was in my room, playing the song, and there were angels with me. That’s something people don’t know. The song had a spiritual meaning for me even before it was released, so when I see all these comparisons, I think, don’t challenge what you don’t understand,” Shatta Wale explained.

He further added, “In Ghana’s entertainment scene, I am like the phoenix.”

Shatta Wale also admitted he still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend, Shatta Michy, revealing that despite his efforts to care for her, he felt unappreciated, and their breakup left him heartbroken.
