You know that frustrating moment on Instagram when you start watching a video that’s already loaded, only for it to suddenly vanish as a new one appears? According to Instagram head Adam Mosseri, that’s now a thing of the past.
This previous behavior, which Instagram internally referred to as a “rug pull,” wasn’t a glitch. Mosseri explained that the app used to show preloaded content to keep engagement high while waiting for new posts to load. However, he admitted that it was “really annoying” for users, so they’ve stopped doing it.
Though this change has led to a slight decrease in engagement, Mosseri says it’s a much better experience for users. And I’d have to agree.
