Steam Game Recording has officially exited beta and is now accessible to all users, allowing players on PC, Mac, and Steam Deck to capture and share audio and video from their gameplay sessions. This new feature complements other popular recording tools like Xbox Game Bar, Nvidia GeForce, and AMD’s Adrenalin.
With the automatic update, players can start recording manually with the default hotkey (Ctrl + F11) or set recordings to start automatically. Users can also adjust recording duration, quality, and storage settings in the new Game Recording tab under Steam settings. The feature works with any game that supports Steam Overlay, including non-Steam games, but is disabled by default.
Valve introduced new features since the beta launch in June, such as “advanced” export options and the ability to customize settings for individual games. The update also includes Session View, featuring a “Recordings & Screenshots manager” with game-specific tags and data.
